Privacy Policy
PageRacer ("we", "us") is a free browser game at pageracer.com. This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have. PageRacer has no user accounts and never asks for your name, email address or password.
WHAT WE STORE
High scores
When you finish the Daily Race you can choose to post a score. If you do, we store the three initials you enter, the date, your start and target articles, your route, your click count and your time. This information appears publicly on the high-score table. Don't use initials that identify you if you'd rather not be identified.
Party rooms
When you host or join a party, we store the room's six-character code, whether it is public or private, the three-letter racer names in it, and the room's rounds and scores. Each browser tab gets a random racer ID that isn't linked to you. While you race, your current article and click count are shared live with the other racers in your room. Public rooms are listed for anyone to join.
Scores and party rooms are stored with our database provider, Supabase.
STORAGE IN YOUR BROWSER
PageRacer stores a few small items in your browser so the game works smoothly. They are never sent to us.
| Item | Purpose | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Your initials | Pre-fill the high-score and party name entry | Local storage |
| Sound on or off | Remember your sound setting | Local storage |
| Today's daily result | Mark the daily race as cleared and allow one posted score per day | Local storage |
| Party racer ID and host key | Keep your seat in a party if you refresh the page | Session storage, cleared when the tab closes |
You can clear these at any time through your browser's settings.
WIKIPEDIA
Articles are loaded by your browser directly from Wikipedia, which is run by the Wikimedia Foundation. Those requests go straight from your device to Wikipedia and are covered by the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy. PageRacer isn't affiliated with Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation.
HOSTING AND LOGS
PageRacer is hosted by Vercel. Like most websites, our hosting and database providers process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of each request. They use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
